Story of Lipstick, A Truck & Silver Earrings
Isabella stood in front of the mirror, smiling to herself. Untying the black ribbon, her dark brown hair fall softly to her shoulder. She smiled again. Clad in her white shirt and Levi's jeans, she looked great. Reaching for the lipstick, she applied it carefully on her lips. Smacking her lips together, Isabella looked at the mirror for the last time. Her silver earrings gleamed lightly against her hair.
"Ma, I'm going now!" Mrs Ruby who was busy hanging the wet clothes to dry; looked back at Isabella. She waved and continue with her chore. Starting her blue and white scrambler motorbike engine, she looked around for awhile. Saw her brother playing football with his friends at the end of the street. "Marcus!" She called out. Marcus, upon hearing her sister calling out; stopped playing and looked up. Isabella waved and he waved back. She turned back, reached for her blue helmet. Straddling herself up on the motorbike, turning the clutch and off she go.
Riding on the long empty road, she rides her motorbike fast. Letting herself and her mind wanders. For a moment, her memories with her ex-fiancee came flashing through her eyes. All went fine and wonderful till he left her for Maria. He left her saying that he had not been happy all this time with her. With Maria, he felt happy. Isabella was so heartbroken. Her five years with him had left her lost. She had put so much hope and dream into the relationship. But it had not worked out the way she expected. After Ryan broke their engagement, the idea of moving away from the place had crossed her mind. She felt that she couldn't face Ryan anymore. after what he had done to her.
"I've to go Ma. I've got nothing more here," Tears were running fast down her cheeks. Mrs Ruby sit down beside. Slowly pulling Isabella into her arms, she said," Don't Ma and Marcus means anything to you?" Isabella looked up, hugging her mother tightly. "You and Marcus have always meant so much to me Ma. Both of you are my life since Da passed away. I could never have lived without both of you. But I love Ryan..I loved him very much!" Isabella was now sobbing harder. Her shoulder racked with her tears. "Now..now, even if Ryan's gone, Ma and Marcus will always be here for you. Won't we? We will go through this together. I will be here for you, dear. Ryan was not meant for you, so let it be. Let him go, Isabel." Upon hearing her mother's words, she felt stronger and decided to be there with her family no matter what happen. She will survive through this.
All of sudden, she was brought back to reality. But it's too late. The red truck which seems to appeared out of nowhere hit her motorbike her, flinging her to the ground. "Isabella!" The last word she heard before everything faded away.
Opening her eyes slowly, she looked around. There's white curtains at the window. Her bedsheet is white too. She was lying there alone. Her leg is cast in bandage. Her left hand too. 'What has happened to me?' She tried to recall what had happened to bring her here. Licking her lips, she realised that she is now thirsty. Heaving herself ache to reach for the glass of water at the side table, suddenly the door opened. "Hi, you are awake?" The tall, fair figure clad in jeans and blue shirt stride towards her. Reaching out for the glass of water and handing it to Isabella. She reached it out, drinking it slowly. She was too stunned to say a word. "You are feeling better already?" The figure now sit on a nearby stool. His eyes staring deep at her. Smiling.
"Why are you here, Ryan?" Letting that name once again danced on her lips, strike something deep within her. And it hurts so much. "I'm..i'm sorry, Isabel. I..I knocked you down. Didn't know you were riding fast on the road. It's my fault . My mind wasn't much on the road. I'm really sorry, Isabel." Isabella shooked her head slowly,"It's my fault. I was dreaming too." She looked when she could hear Ryan laughing softly. "So what were you thinking about eh?" That smile. The smile that had always calm her even if the roughest storm. But now the smile stabbed her deeply in her heart, knowing that the smile was no longer hers. "Where's Ma and Marcus?" Isabella quickly looked away. She can't bear the hurt any longer. She wish for her family right now. "I've called them. They will be here shortly." Isabella nodded; looking down.
"Isabel, I'm sorry." Ryan reached out for her hands, try to hold them in his hands. But slowly, Isabella pulled away. "I'm sorry for what I've done to you. I've hurt you so much, Isabel. I was blind, blinded by Maria's love. But she had been untrue to me. She had left me for another man. It's then that I realised how much you love me, Isabel. How true your love had been for me. I love you, Isabel." Ryan tried to reach for her hands again. But Isabella pulled back. Her tears slowly fall down her cheeks. "You had really hurt me before, Ryan. How your words hurt me and crushed my hopes and dreams. I nearly lost everything if not for my family. Where were during my darkest hours? Instead, my family is there for me. They had always and will always be there for me. Where were you, Ryan? You left me for Maria!"
"Yes, yes I know my love. I've hurt you and I beg you to forgive me. Please Isabel, I need you."
"Ryan, forgive you I will. But I can't forget what you had done to me. I'm sorry Ryan. You could never be in my life again! I don't love you anymore!"
"If you don't love me, why are you still wearing this silver earrings that I bought you on our engagement day. That proves that you still love me. And I'm still a part of you." The silver earrings gleamed in the light. The earrings that she had always wore.
"You were before. But not now." Isabella looked away, wiping the tears on her cheek. Ryan, clutching the silver earrings in his hands, slowly stand up and walked out. He know at that moment that he had lost Isabella forever.
Isabella still looked away. Letting her tears fall down to her cheeks again.
